Authorities and privatization in Jordan
Situation
EC decides to grant € 20 million in technical assistance to strengthen and develop infrastructure regulation in Jordan, including telecom and post, and to support privatization

    Prepared feasibility report (drafted identification and appraisal reports, project design, and budget) for the World Bank - European Commission Joint Program for an EC grant assistance of €20 million to promote private participation in infrastructure and strengthen regulatory authorities in Jordan for 2002 - 2006
    Designed the technical assistance program including program management, coordination and sustainability measures
    Identified technical assistance and training needs of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission in Jordan and drafted terms of reference for a €3.5 million project
    Drafted Terms of Reference for the Executive Privatization Commission, the Electricity Regulatory Commission, and the Civil Aviation Authority
       
  Results
    € 3.5 million funding for technical assistance was awarded to support TRCt
    € 16.5 million was awarded to support other regulatory authorities and privatization
