Reviewing and amending the draft Civil Aviation Act in Saudi Arabia to allow
the restructuring and reform of civil aviation
Situation
The presidency of civil aviation in Saudi Arabia is heading towards major reforms in the Saudi aviation sector with the ultimate aim to liberalize the industry and thus required an update of the Civil Aviation Act
Key Issues
The new act had to be in line with most international conventions on Civil Aviation even those that the Kingdom didn’t ratify to the date of the project
Special requirement to Saudi Arabia had to carefully integrated to the Civil Aviation Act

Prepared a comprehensive report on the existing draft civil aviation act highlighting the needed changes to allow for restructuring of the sector and its compliance with international standards
Drafted an amended version of the civil aviation act, taking into consideration the Saudi laws and regulations
Prepared a roadmap for drafting the civil aviation bylaw
Results
The updated Civil Aviation Act was adopted by the Shura council and received positive commendations
